I make each 6 x 4 inch canvas as an individual story, and then think about what the layout - landscape, portrait, sequential, stacked - even a non-linear format - might signify.

The element of interpretation and impermanence is exciting to me. I love to imagine how the arrangement could change over time according to new inspiration.

I admire well-structured sentences or lines of poetry, which can be economically sparse yet rich with meaning. The specificity of selection and placement can both create and alter connotation.

The series reflects on movement through time: visiting the past through memory, visualizing the future, pausing to be here now. I think it’s interesting to note where we linger, and where we focus attention - to recognize that that we are empowered to shift our awareness, and by doing so relocate ourselves where we desire to be.
